Everett Duckworth

A Steady Voice for Families, Freedom, and Fiscal Responsibility

North Dakota’s District 13 needs a fighter who puts common-sense principles first and delivers real results for working families. Everett Duckworth is that leader. A retired civil engineer with over 40 years of proven experience managing critical infrastructure, Duckworth has spent his life solving complex problems, protecting public safety, and getting projects done on time and on budget. Now, he’s bringing that same practical, disciplined approach to Bismarck to defend parental rights, secure our elections, cut wasteful spending, and make life more affordable for North Dakotans.

With deep roots in community service and a strong commitment to Republican values, Everett Duckworth stands ready to push back against radical policies and efforts to weaken our party. He is a family man, a proven leader, and a problem-solver who believes in limited government, personal responsibility, and putting people first.

Tax Relief, Affordable Living, and Responsible Spending

North Dakotans are hardworking people who deserve relief from rising costs and government overreach. Everett Duckworth will take a disciplined approach to budgeting—cutting waste, eliminating corporate welfare, and returning money to the taxpayers who earned it.

Key priorities include:

  • Property Tax Relief – Implement meaningful caps on property tax increases and responsibly use Legacy Fund interest to ease the burden on homeowners and farmers.

  • Stop Corporate Giveaways – End hundreds of millions in corporate welfare while families and farmers struggle with higher costs.

  • Redirect Excess Revenue – Put millions in excess state revenue back into tax relief rather than new spending programs.

  • Protect Housing Affordability – Prevent large corporations from buying up single-family homes and work toward policies that support lower interest rates and stable housing costs and “specials”

  • Fiscal Discipline – Apply the same careful project management he used in engineering to state government, ensuring every taxpayer dollar delivers maximum value.

Duckworth’s decades of experience managing multi-million-dollar public infrastructure projects give him the credibility to demand accountability in Bismarck. He knows how to coordinate complex budgets, cut unnecessary costs, and focus resources where they matter most—on North Dakota families and farmers.

It’s time to make government live within its means and put hardworking North Dakotans first.

Securing Our Elections and Strengthening the Republican Party

Free and fair elections are the foundation of our Republic. Everett Duckworth served on the NDGOP Election Integrity Committee and is committed to restoring full trust in our voting system.

North Dakota currently ranks only #40 in overall election freedom. We must do better. Duckworth opposes statewide efforts that weaken the Republican Party, such as HB 1446 from the 2025-2026 session. That bill tried to eliminate the party endorsement process and dramatically increase petition signature requirements for statewide office—pushing us toward a primary-only system that opens the door to infiltrators. Thankfully, it failed in the House, but similar threats remain.

Everett will push for concrete reforms including:

  • Strong chain-of-custody protections for ballots

  • Paper ballots with proper safeguards (no internet-connected tabulation systems)

  • Signature verification by independent canvassing boards

  • Elimination of partisan influences in the election process

He understands that secure elections protect traditional American values and prevent outsiders from influencing our elections.  Everett Duckworth will fight to keep North Dakota elections secure, transparent, and trustworthy—so every legal vote counts and only legal votes count.

Who is Everett Duckworth?

Everett Duckworth is a devoted father of two, and proud grandfather of two grandchildren. He understands that strong families are the bedrock of a strong society and a prosperous North Dakota.

His record of service speaks for itself:

  • Active Secretary in District 13, working alongside fellow Republicans to strengthen our local party

  • Member of the NDGOP Election Integrity Committee, fighting for transparent and trustworthy elections

  • President of the West Fargo Senior Club, providing free meals and support for our seniors

  • Active in the Gate City Lions Club

  • Faithful member of his local church in West Fargo

  • General Service Representative for AA, supporting recovery programs with no-cost, democratic principles

Professionally, Duckworth is a retired civil engineer with more than 40 years of hands-on experience. He has designed and overseen major infrastructure projects including roads, highways, flood control systems, bridges, storm drains, water quality improvements, and transportation corridors. His career included key roles with Bechtel Power Corp.--structural engineering in nuclear power plants, CH2M Hill—design build models for significant freeway systems/toll roads, Riverside County Flood Control District—planning, construction and water quality and conservation, and the Riverside County Transportation Department--thousand land development projects permitting and construction oversight. He has coordinated complex projects with agencies such as Caltrans, the Army Corps of Engineers, Fish and Wildlife Service, and numerous local governments—proving he knows how to manage budgets, navigate regulations, and deliver results.

In retirement, Everett continues serving North Dakotans through senior programs, faith-based initiatives, recovery support, and his work on election integrity. He is not a career politician. He is a disciplined leader who tackles challenges head-on and puts people over politics.

Everett Duckworth brings real-world experience and strong conviction rooted in American moral tradition to the fight for District 13.

Strong Defense of Parental Rights and Family Values

Common-sense principles start with protecting our children and empowering parents. Everett Duckworth believes parents—not government bureaucrats or activists—should make the most important decisions for their families.

Look at recent bills in our state legislature that reveal where the battle lines are drawn. Some legislators opposed common-sense protections:

  • HB 2150 – Clarified that abortions are banned after the first six weeks of pregnancy, with exceptions only for rape, incest, or to protect the life of the mother. Duckworth supports finishing the job and addressing the growing use of abortion pills that have surged since Roe v. Wade was overturned.

  • HB 1254 – Aimed to protect children from dangerous “gender-affirming” medical practices that harm minors.

  • HB 1249 – The Girls’ Fairness in Sports bill, keeping biological boys out of girls’ K-12 sports competitions.

  • HB 1450 – Allowed parents to be present in medical exam rooms with their children.

  • HB 2307 – Sought to remove pornography from public libraries so it is not easily accessible to young eyes.

These are not extreme positions—they are common-sense protections for life, innocence, and fairness. Everett Duckworth will actively champion these priorities in Bismarck. He knows that words without action are meaningless. As your representative, he will fight every session to pass and defend strong parental rights legislation.

Parents know best. Everett Duckworth will stand with families against radical ideologies.

Reforming Education – More Choice, Better Results, Less Waste

North Dakota’s education system needs practical, efficient reform. Despite spending the 13th highest amount per pupil in the nation ($19,538 annually in cost-of-living adjusted terms), the state ranks poorly in key areas (source: The Heritage Foundation):

  • #47 in education choice

  • #45 in teacher freedom

  • Only #31 in return on investment for education spending

Our students and families deserve better. Everett Duckworth will fight to expand real options for parents while improving academic outcomes and controlling costs.

Specific reforms he supports:

  • Enact K-12 Education Savings Accounts so families can choose the best educational setting for their children

  • Help implement charter schools to increase competition and innovation

  • Reduce excessive regulations on homeschooling families

  • Allow more choices among traditional public schools beyond assigned district linesImprove teacher freedom by eliminating outdated requirements, allowing alternative certification paths, and granting full reciprocity with other states

  • Reduce bloated non-teaching staff, slow the growth of administrative bureaucracy, and address unfunded teacher pension liabilities

North Dakota can—and must—do better. By expanding choice and demanding results, we can move up in national rankings while keeping education grounded in local control and parental involvement rather than top-down mandates.

Everett Duckworth will champion education policies that empower parents, support great teachers, and deliver excellent outcomes for North Dakota’s children.
